The HRC riders manage to finish the race in a very treacherous GP

Marc Márquez, 13th, and Joan Mir, 17th, finished a race marked by initial crashes and the serious accident of Pecco Bagnaia.

On Saturday, it was already seen that the Honda HRC riders had a lot of work ahead of them to get closer to the top positions, with Marc Márquez eleventh who was once again the first Honda on the grid and Joan Mir who could not exceed 20th place .

Sunday's race was marked by serious incidents that occurred on the first lap. In the first corner of the Circuit Bastianini he lost control of his Ducati, taking with him Johann Zarco, Álex Márquez, Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio, in a fateful domino of falls.

But the most serious thing happened in the second corner when Pecco Bagnaia suffered a spectacular "highside" when he lost control of the rear wheel and went flying violently through the air with the bad luck of being run over by Brad Binder's KTM who couldn't dodge him.

Faced with this serious situation, the red flag was pulled out and the race was stopped to start later. Márquez, who started 11th due to a grid penalty for Bastianini, had a good start to quickly move into the top ten.

During the first half of the race, Márquez competed with Quartararo and his Yamaha that finally distanced himself from the Honda that was suffering from traction problems. Finally, Márquez was able to finish in 13th place, adding points and with his mind already set on the next Grand Prix.

His teammate Joan Mir went from better to worse, fighting for points in the first few laps. He also suffered traction problems with the Honda RC213V, which caused him to finish in 17th position.

Now the Repsol Honda Team will head to Misano for the second to last European race and be able to draw conclusions in the last test before the frantic marathon at the end of the season begins.

STATEMENTS:
Marc Márquez, HRC rider:
“First of all I am very happy that Pecco and all the other riders have avoided any serious injury. I saw Pecco crash on the first lap and immediately did everything I could to make sure I could avoid it. At the restart of the race I was able to gain some positions. I was very strong at the beginning, but then I had to adopt a more conservative mode in the second half of the race. In the last few races I focused on bringing the bike home. Now we start thinking about Misano”
Joan Mir, HRC driver: “Honestly, I had a good start in the first race and made up some positions. But unfortunately the rest of our race was similar to the day before and we struggled to get grip. After six or seven laps the tire dropped a lot and I was working to finish the race and stay on the bike. I used the time to try a few different maps on the bike to see if it changed anything. Avoiding a crash was important and we finished the last few laps carefully to get to Misano in the most positive way possible.
