Márquez increases the distance on Valentino Rossi in the general
On August 8, 9 and 10, the Österreich Grand Prix took place at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Under a free practice on Friday in the rain where riders could only test their bikes in FP1, Márquez and Pedrosa got the fourth and sixth fastest time respectively. During the qualifying session on Saturday, Márquez struggled to get the pole that was finally taken by 0.002 of advantage over Dovizioso and Lorenzo, second and third respectively. They would be the rivals to beat in the race on Sunday. Dani Pedrosa managed to occupy the third row of the grid in the absence of grip with his bike after the rain.
In the race that was played on Sunday, the reigning world champion got a tough second place that he had to battle. Márquez took the lead at the start of the race but Lorenzo and Dovizioso followed closely behind him and on lap 19 the battle for the first place started that finally went to Lorenzo. Marc finished with 0.130" of victory, ahead of Dovizioso, Dani was involved in an incident that caused him to lose several positions at the beginning of the race but could finally recover by finishing seventh.
In this way, Márquez continues to lead the qualification by increasing the distance with respect to Rossi, to 59 points and HRC is placed first in the constructors' classification.
