Second test in Portimao

KRT follows the preparation during the pre-season

On January 27 and 28, the Kawasaki Racing Team was present at the official World SBK events at the Portimao circuit. After two days of testing in Jerez, the runners were able to continue the pre-season with their team.

This was the first opportunity for Leo Haslam to run with his new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR in another circuit where the World SBK will be played, getting a better lap of 1'42.144.
Jonathan Rea made a better lap of 1'40.885, taking almost a second to Alex Lowes, the second fastest driver. A fall in his final laps left Rea unharmed and ready for the next test in Australia, where the first race of the season will be played.

Rea and Haslam also had the first opportunity to use the new Pirelli SCX rear tire, designed for the new ten-sprint sprint initiative that will take place on Sunday morning at WorldSBK. It will also feature the traditional long distance races on Saturday and Sunday.

After the completion of the first two events of the year at the Jerez and Portimao circuits, the results are positive for both the riders and the Kawasaki technical staff.

The next sessions will be the official events organized at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia on February 18 and 19, shortly before the first round of the championship.
