Rea adds two more victories and reaffirms his leadership again

This past weekend has taken place the eighth round of the championship in Marco Simoncelli circuit of Misano.
During the session on Friday, the WorldSBK pilots performed the first two dry tests while the third was led by the rain. During the FP1, Jonathan Rea proved to be the fastest on track while Tom Sykes was the fifth fastest, however, during FP2 Sykes improved his mark. Both pilots were booked during FP3 due to rain.

On Saturday, Sykes got the pole position and that his teammate Rea did not take long to snatch the first position on the track during the first lap, setting a strong pace and thus achieving the first victory of the weekend. Sykes was not able to follow him and finally finished in fifth place.

During the race on Sunday, Jonathan Rea came out from the third row of the grid, but once again proved to have a good pace beating in the last lap to Michael Van der Mark to get the tenth victory of the season, just 0.334 of advantage. Tom Sykes improved the configuration of the bike and finally finished fifth, defending the fourth place in the world.

In this way, Rea manages to increase the advantage over his pursuers, leading the championship with 370 points over Chaz Davies with 278 points, van der Mark with 248 and Sykes with 218.

The next meeting will take place in Portimao next September 14 and 16, where the pilots will carry out an official test during the summer holidays.
