After 2,331 days, Alex Lowes returns to the top

Despite the bad conditions in Magny-Cours, Lowes manages to reach the top of the podium and Axel Bassani records his best Superpole of the season.

The Kawasaki Racing Team, after a weekend of ups and downs, is celebrating. First, achieving the highest spot on the podium in Saturday's Superpole Race thanks to Alex Lowes (#22), who hadn't experienced this moment since 2018 in Assen. For his teammate Axel Bassani (#47), this Saturday was especially significant as he achieved his best result with Kawasaki, securing a seventh place.

For the British rider, not everything was ideal, as a crash, a loose fairing, and a black-and-orange flag forced him to retire from Race 1 on Saturday afternoon. Despite having led the race and recovered up to fifth position, the incident with the fairing, which was dangerously hanging off, forced him to withdraw on lap 16.

On Sunday, Lowes bounced back with a second place in the Superpole Race. The night was particularly difficult due to heavy rains that left the track slightly wet, causing a frantic and tense start in Superpole for both the riders and their teams.

Lowes remains fourth in the overall standings but has closed the gap to third place, now only eight points behind. However, we'll have to wait two more weeks to see how the competition evolves and how the standings shift in the last four races of the championship.
