Magny Cours. Penz13.com Franks Autowelt Racing Team secured a 2nd place in the FIM World Endurance Championship at the 77th Bol d’Or, the 24 hours of Magny Cours, today. The German squad of team principal Rico Penzkofer also got 6th overall with Pedro Vallcaneras (ESP), Jason Pridmore (USA) and Steve Mercer (GBR). The Penz13.com Franks Autowelt Racing Team the 24 hours of Magny Cours at the Bol d’Or went problem-free - for riders as well as for the technical side. During the night the squad of Team Principal Rico Penzkofer had to fight hard with the Suzuki Junior Team and AM Moto. Before lunchtime on Sunday, Pedro Vallcaneras, Jason Pridmore and Steve Mercer took over the lead in the Superstock category. Around 11:30 Team Principal Penzkofer was ordered to Race Control as Vallcaneras was reported to having overtaken under Safety Car conditions. The team got a Stop&Go penalty for that and dropped in the order to second. Now the team had to discuss their tactics and decided to play the race safely: to work as hard and normal as the hours before. Pridmore had to sit in for the penalty - and went back out on track with a lot of anger in his stomach. He pulled everything out of himself - as did Vallcaneras and Mercer after him. But the gap of then 40 seconds wasn’t to be closed. The last hour, which was splitted by Pridmore and Vallcaneras, saw the team playing it safe - also because the 23 hours before were demanding and exhausting. Rico Penzkofer - Team Principal: “Of course it would have been nice to win this race, but we have to be satisfied with our performance also. We did the 24 hours once again without any problems and our BMW S 1000 RR ran perfectly. Also our new Dunlop tires were great. And furthermore: It’s not bad to be on second place after 24 hours of racing! That’s something special still!”
