Ana Carrasco shines at the top of the podium, while Alex Lowes celebrates his 25th podium with Kawasaki.
We’ll have to break it down, as last weekend was a whirlwind for the Puig-sponsored teams.
First, in the FIM Women’s World Speed Championship, Ana Carrasco (#22) achieved what she had long been chasing: the top spot in the overall standings. After a challenging Friday and Saturday, where she finished third in a close Superpole and Race 1, Sunday was her day. A tense battle of overtakes with her main rival, combined with a mistake and the dramatic crash of two riders, allowed her to cross the finish line in first place. This victory gives her not only a 9-point advantage over the second-placed rider but also a boost of motivation for the races ahead.
At Kawasaki Racing Team, despite the early Friday morning rains, Alex Lowes (#22) set the best time in the opening session. On Saturday, the team celebrated Axel Bassani’s (#47) fifth-place finish, his best result of the season. However, a mishap left Lowes out of the podium. Nevertheless, the British rider bounced back on Sunday, finishing second and celebrating his 25th podium with Kawasaki and the 45th of his WorldSBK career.
KRT still has three races to decide their fate this season. Lowes remains fourth in the standings, but as we know, nothing is settled until the last lap of the final race. Meanwhile, Ana Carrasco has two races left to once again be crowned World Champion. We’ll be watching closely, as this season finale promises to be unforgettable.
