THE SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP KICKS OFF WITH INTENSITY IN AUSTRALIA: FIRST ROUND COMPLETED

Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team and GMT94 start the season strongly in Australia

With more favorable temperatures than in Spain, the Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team riders had a solid start in the first round of the Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island. Alex Lowes (#22) and Axel Bassani (#47) both secured Top 10 finishes, with Lowes standing out in the Superpole Race, claiming 7th place after ten intense laps on the 4.445 km Australian circuit. The British rider finished less than 2.5 seconds from the podium, showcasing the team's potential this season.

Alex Lowes: […] If I take a step back and evaluate the whole week of official testing and then the first race weekend, I can say it has been a good week. We gathered a lot of information, it was the first time we tested the bike in high temperatures […]. We finished all three races and will take a lot of data back to Europe.
In the overall championship standings after this first round, Lowes sits 9th with 19 points, while Bassani is 10th with 14 points.

Meanwhile, the GMT94 Yamaha team came very close to the podium. Michael Rinaldi (#21) secured 4th place in Race 2, while Lucas Mahias (#94) shone in the Superpole Race with a 3rd-place finish, earning his first podium of the season. In the overall championship standings, Mahias is 6th and Rinaldi 8th, confirming a promising start for the French team.

The next round of the Superbike World Championship will take place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal from March 28 to 30, where both teams will aim to keep improving and fighting for top positions.
