Jonathan Rea achieves three podiums in the French Magny-Cours event

Rea achieves his second triple podium of the season and consolidates third place in the general standing.

The French round began with good feelings for the Kawasaki Racing Team with both riders obtaining good times during free practice.

In Saturday's Superpole Rea finished fifth and his teammate Lowes finished eighth, both seeing themselves slightly affected on the last lap with the qualifying tires.

Saturday's race offered several attractive battles, on the one hand the fight between Razgatlioglu, Bautista and Rinaldi. And on the other hand, Rea resisted the pressure of Andrea Locatelli and Lowes, who due to an unexpected technical problem on his bike went from fourth position to eighth. Rea took third position on the fifth lap and managed to maintain it throughout the race.

The show continued in Sunday's Sprint Superpole race with Rea and Lowes lapping behind the top three when the two factory Ducati riders collided causing Rinaldi to crash. Rea placed second but could not catch Toprak Razgatlioglu, winner of the race, and was eventually overtaken by Bautista.

Lowes maintained a good position in the Superpole race but a physical problem with his knee forced him to retire and he was unable to participate in the second race on Sunday.

In the last race of the weekend, a red flag was raised due to Aegerter's fall and the race had to be restarted after 17 laps. At the restart the fight for the podium between Rea and Razgatlioglu continued with Bautista ahead who won the race, while the Turk finished second and Rea obtained his third podium of the weekend, consolidating his third place overall by leading by 34 points to the fourth classified, Andrea Locatelli.

The championship standings are with Bautista first with 467 points, Razgatlioglu second with 410 and Rea third with 290. Lowes is eighth with 129 points.

STATEMENTS:
Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team Rider):
“I am very happy to have been on the podium three times this weekend. Since Friday I felt like I had a pretty good pace and then we got the direction right with the set-up. In the first race, and even in Superpole, I was happy with the set-up of the bike, but I was not able to 'dance' with it. In the second race I felt much better from the beginning… We had a positive trend during the weekend, improving the bike. "I was able to stop it pretty well and we had good traction."
Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team Rider): “There's not much to say. I've been riding well, so it's hard to accept. It's not like I fell or anything. I realized right away that I had a problem, so I have to look at my knee to get back to 100%. In two weeks it should be fine. Let's see if I can be there for the Aragon weekend."
