Chosen from over 4000 applicants for the famous Movistar Activa Joven Cup in 1999. 1999 - Movistar Activa Joven Cup. Fifth place, in front of Dani Pedrosa, earning him a second year in the Cup and a spot as a back-up rider for the 125cc Spanish Championship 2000 - Movistar Cup. One podium, ninth place (due to being sidelined through injury) 2001 - 125cc Spanish Championship. 2002 - 125cc Spanish Championship with Atlético de Madrid team. Runner-up in the championship. First international competition. 125cc European Championship podium at Assen and a fourth place in Hungary. Also competed in four 125cc World Championship races as a wildcard 2003 - 125cc World Championship. 20th place. Best finish fourth at Phillip Island and a sixth at Valencia. First 250cc wins and podiums. Fourth position overall and won the FIM 'Rookie of the Year' award. 2008 - 250cc World Championship runner-up.
